Crop production

Location: Italy

Cereals and pulses are at the heart of Europe’s food supply, with over 270 million tonnes produced each year. In FOODTURE, our Italy-based case study dives into this vital crop group to understand how different farming practices shape environmental outcomes.

We’re also looking closely at land use in extensive farming systems, using advanced mapping tools to study land fragmentation and its effects on biodiversity and resource efficiency.

By linking on-the-ground practices with innovative assessment methods, this case study helps pave the way for more resilient, responsible food production.
